                                               3rdSide band bio
3rdSide was started in 2002 by founder/front man Derek Windle in Annapolis, MD, under the original name of High
Tide. After several years of writing and recording material, High Tide eventually dissolved due to different musical
directions within the band. From the ashes arose 3rdSide, and the beginning recordings of what was to become
The Sunroom Sessions. Derek spent a little over a year on his first project, writing, recording, engineering, and
mixing virtually everything himself (with the help of a few guest appearances), and in mid 2006 completed the
album.
The Sunroom Sessions contained 13 original tracks that boasted a flavorful mix of acoustic and electric
sounds, underlining thought provoking lyrics and interwoven melodies.

Fresh off the heels of the newly recorded
The Sunroom Sessions, 3rdSide moved to Nashville to see if Tennessee
was ready for an acoustically based rock/reggae band. It wasn't. The band was hardworking and won support from
new and old fans alike but unfortunately, things didn’t go as they had hoped. Eventually the remaining members
went their separate ways, and Derek went solo.

This is normally where the story ends, but it's actually where this one begins. 3rdSide has moved to Concord, New
Hampshire, and is in the process of rebuilding the band. Joining vocalist/guitarist Derek Windle is percussionist
Tom Maxfield, adding a dynamic mix of Djembe, rock drums, and other percussional instruments to the 3rdSide
sound. In summer 2008, Fred joined the band as bassist. With the launch of a new website, the recent release of
The Sunroom Sessions, plus the new material from Derek's next album, 3rdSide shows are quickly becoming 'talk
of the town'. Fans have expressed great enthusiasm for 3rdSide’s variety of sounds, songwriting talent and
exciting live shows, and right in the beauty of New Hampshire, the future of rock and roll is being made.
